Hali joins Franco Harris and Larry Johnson as the only Nittany Lions in the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; March 16, 2016 – Nittany Lion All-American and 10-year NFL veteran Tamba Hali has been selected to the Reese’s Senior Bowl Hall of Fame. Hali is the third Nittany Lion to earn a spot in the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame, joining Franco Harris, who was inducted in 1992, and Larry Johnson, who was a 2010 inductee.
Hali, who recently signed a three-year contract extension with the Kansas City Chiefs, has spent all 10 years of his NFL career as an outside linebacker with the Chiefs. He is a six-time Pro Bowl selection and a two-time All-Pro second team honoree. The very reliable Hali has been a constant on the Chiefs defense, missing only four games in his 10-year career and starting 155 of 160 games.
The native of Gbanga, Liberia has 553 career tackles, 86.0 sacks and 32 forced fumbles in his NFL career. In 2015, he had 48 stops with 6.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. Hali finished second in the NFL with 14.5 sacks in 2010. In 2011, he had a career-high 66 tackles with 12.0 sacks and four forced fumbles on his way to All-Pro second team status.
While with the Nittany Lions, Hali was a unanimous consensus All-American in 2005. He was a finalist for the Nagurski Trophy for the nation’s top defensive player and the Ted Hendricks Award for the nation’s top defensive end. During his senior season, Hali was the Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year and was an All-Big Ten first team honoree. He led the conference in sacks (11.0) and tackles for loss (17.0). Hali was selected to the Reese’s Senior Bowl and was named the Senior Bowl Defensive MVP in 2006.
