Junior defensive end will forgo his final year of eligibility

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., January 5, 2017 – Wide receiver Chris Godwin (Middletown, Del.) will forgo his final year of eligibility with Penn State to enter the NFL Draft. The two-time All-Big Ten selection ranks in the top-four in program history in receiving yards (2,404) and receiving touchdowns (18).

No. 5 Penn State running back Saquon Barkley totaled a career-high 306 all-purpose yards and scored three touchdowns and wide receiver Chris Godwin caught nine passes for a career-high 187 yards and two touchdowns, but No. 9 USC rallied in the fourth quarter to win the 103rd annual Rose Bowl Game on a 46-yard field goal as time expired, 52-49.

BIG BLUE SHOWS WASHINGTON THE DOOR IN SEASON FINALE

Anyone who thought the Giants had nothing to play for doesn’t know the Giants.
Locked into the fifth seed in the NFC playoffs, the Giants traveled here to face a Washington Redskins team that would have virtually secured a postseason berth with a victory. But it was the Giants who played as if they had a lot at stake, and they walked out of FedEx Field with a 19-10 victory.
The Giants finished 11-5 and will visit the Green Bay Packers in an NFC Wild Card Game late Sunday afternoon.

EAGLES, COWBOYS WALK AWAY HAPPY AFTER SEASON FINALE AT THE LINC

The Eagles (7-9) managed to end their season on a positive note, defeating the Dallas Cowboys 27-13 at Lincoln Financial Field on a picture perfect afternoon.
The Cowboys (13-3) had nothing to play for having locked up the No. 1 seed in the NFC last week.
Head coach Jason Garrett said he had a plan for his team and except for the score, he got everything done he wanted to.

EAGLES WANT WIN SUNDAY, COWBOYS WANT INJURY-FREE GAME-TONY ROMO TO PLAY

The Eagles will be trying to win their seventh game of the year when they take on No. 1 NFC seed Dallas Cowboys (13-2) at Lincoln Financial Field (1 p.m. FOX) in the regular season finale for both teams.
The Cowboys have nothing to gain Sunday and everything to lose if they play their starters. Rookie quarterback sensation Dak Prescott has been quoted that his is starting and that was backed up by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones earlier in the week.
But Friday several reports indicated Tony Romo, who has missed the entire season after suffering a back injury in the preseason and then being demoted because of the play of Prescott, is expected to play Sunday against the Birds, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
