NEWS AND NOTES FOLLOWING EAGLES LOSS TO WASHINGTON

Here some news and notes following the Eagles gut-wrenching loss to the Washington Redskins dropping the Birds to 1-3 on the season and 0-2 in the NFC East.
The Eagles face the surging New Orleans Saints on Sunday at the Linc.
• No team in the NFC East has a winning record. Only the AFC South can make that dubious claim. The NFC East has a combined record of 7-9, while the AFC South is the bottom feeder at 5-10.
• Sam’s Club … QB Sam Bradford threw for 270 yards and three touchdowns, marking his seventh-career three-touchdown game. His 122.6 rating was the second-highest of his career. His 62-yard touchdown pass to WR Riley Cooper was the second-longest touchdown pass of his career.
• Riley Cooper’s 62-yard touchdown reception was the second-longest of his career. Since 2013, Cooper has four 40-plus yard touchdown receptions. In his last two games at Washington, Cooper has seven receptions for 125 yards and three touchdowns … TE Brent Celek scored his first touchdown of the season and the 28th of his career. He has five career touchdowns against Washington WR Miles Austin’s 39-yard touchdown reception was his longest since Week 2 of the 2011 season.
• RB Darren Sproles broke a 45-yard punt return, marking the ninth 40-plus yard punt return of his career … Since joining the Eagles, Sproles has a 14.3-yard punt return average, which ranks as the second-highest in team history behind Ernie Steele’s 16.8-yard average from 1942-48.
• After recovering a fumble that was forced by LB Brandon Graham, LB Jordan Hicks has three takeaways in the last two games (1 INT, 2 FRs) … Overall, the Eagles defense has racked up nine takeaways this season including five in the last two weeks … The defense has forced at least one turnover in 10 consecutive contests (22 overall during that span) … Graham has 10 career forced fumbles.
• Birdseed … The Eagles have not allowed an individual 100-yard rusher in the last 16 games, tying Atlanta for the longest active streak. The Eagles have allowed just one 100-yard rusher in their last 28 contests (Frank Gore on 9/28/14 at SF) … LS Jon Dorenbos played in his 137th game as an Eagle, tying Andre Waters and Wes Hopkins for 16th on the Eagles all-time list.
