The New York Giants coveted first round pick is in the fold.

The Giants will hold their initial training camp practice Monday with their entire 2018 draft class under contract.

Running back Saquon Barkley of Penn State, the second overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft, signed his first NFL contract when he reported to the Quest Diagnostics Training Center. He joins the four draft choices who had previously signed: guard Will Hernandez of UTEP (second round), outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter of Georgia (third round), defensive tackle B.J. Hill of North Carolina State (third round), and quarterback Kyle Lauletta of Richmond (fourth round).

Defensive tackle RJ McIntosh was signed Sunday afternoon. Please see end of article.

Coach Pat Shurmur will hold his first practice Monday with the team’s rookies, quarterbacks, and selected veterans.

Barkley, the second overall choice in the draft, rushed for 3,843 yards and 43 touchdowns and caught 102 passes, eight for scores, in three seasons with the Nittany Lions. He amassed 5,538 total yards on 791 touches for averages of 7.0 yards per play and 145.7 yards per game.

Barkley, 6-0 and 233 pounds, was impressive throughout the non-contact drills, when he demonstrated speed, acceleration, pass-catching ability and numerous other qualities that impressed the Giants prior to the draft.

Defensive tackle RJ McIntosh, who was chosen in the fifth round, signed his contract late today, becoming the sixth and final Giants’ draft choice to do so. Running back Saquon Barkley, the team’s first-round selection, signed his contract earlier in the afternoon.

The Giants’ other four draft choices had previously finalized their contract negotiations: guard Will Hernandez of UTEP (second round), outside linebacker Lorenzo Carter of Georgia (third round), defensive tackle B.J. Hill of North Carolina State (third round), and quarterback Kyle Lauletta of Richmond (fourth round).

McIntosh, 6-4 and 283 pounds, played in 31 games with 26 starts. His career totals included 103 tackles (51 solo), 23 tackles for losses and 5.5 sacks.

McIntosh, who did not participate in spring drills, will start camp on the active/non-football illness list.
