EAST RUTHERFORD: Going into Week 7 of
the 2012 NFL schedule, 11 teams sported 3-3 records, five were at 2-3 and five
entered Sunday with 4-2 records.

Once considered the superior
conference, the AFC had only two teams (out of 16) that had winning records.

The entire AFC East was 3-3 with tiebreakers
determining the order listed.

The parity in the NFL is unprecedented.

And to be sure there will be many who
will pick the Eagles (3-3) over the Atlanta Falcons (6-0), the only unbeaten team
left in the NFL and who face the Birds at Lincoln Financial Field October 28.
Both teams are on their bye week.

In NFC East play this week The Giants
edged the Washington Redskins 27-23 in game that was a microcosm of the league
this year. No lead is safe. Even with the Giants now at 5-2, if the Eagles win
next Sunday, the Birds and Dallas will be on their heels.

“We prepare for each opponent with
respect,” Giants Pro Bowl guard Chris Snee said after the game. “We know that
anyone can get beat on any given Sunday. It’s the NFL, we’re not expecting
blowouts. We’re expecting close games. But we’re expecting to rise in the
fourth quarter.”

Snee said he knows it is good for the
fans to see so many teams with a chance to get to the post season.

“[Parity] is good for the league,”
Snee said. “There’s a lot of good teams. Every week we have to be prepared for
close games.”

The Redskins fumbled the  ball five times losing it three times. Robert
Griffin III AKA RG3 also threw an interception that turned out to be the
difference.

Redskins center Will Montgomery said
he is glad the records are close, especially for the fans.

“We feel like we can go play with
anybody, obviously,” said Montgomery, whose team dropped to 3-4 after the loss.
“Every game we played we could have won and every game we played we could have
lost. All the games are close and when we get a fourth-quarter lead we need to
find a way to finish.”

The Redskins fumbled the ball five
times losing it three times. Robert Griffin III AKA RG3 also threw an
interception that turned out to be the difference.

“We harp on turnovers all the time,”
Montgomery said. “Sometimes the defense just makes a good play. Maybe they’ll
strip the ball or the defensive back makes a good break on the ball. You look
at the stats and whoever wins the turnover battle usually wins the game.”

Giants center David Baas said he wants
no part of the parity thing. When he was asked if he thought the rest of the season
was going to be like their game against the Redskins, he replied.

“I hope not. We knew how important
this game was to win. I hope it”s not a back and fourth deal. We have to get
better. We have a big challenge next week against at Dallas. We just have to
keep getting prepared the right way.”

The way this season is unfolding. No
team is going to get a free pass on any given week.
