According to Nfl.com the Giants finished dead last in total defense last year. Picking a defensive player with their high draft pick was obviously a move to get out of the basement.

The Philadelphia Soul defeated the Arizona Rattlers 56-42 in front of 13,390 fans at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, AZ on Friday night. This is the second ArenaBowl championship victory for the Soul in franchise history.
Philadelphia Soul WR Shaun Kauleinamoku led the receivers with eight receptions for 110 yards and three touchdowns. WR Darius Reynolds added five receptions for 69 yards and two touchdowns and Ryan McDaniel chipped in four receptions for 68 yards and one touchdown. Coach Doug Pederson touches on many subjects including the acquisition of veteran linebacker Stephen Tulloch, the status of Carson Wentz and wide receiver Dorial Beck-Green. Pederson defected a question about Lane Johnson’s status with regards to the tackle appeal of a positive test for PEDs that could result in Johnson getting suspended for 10 games.
