Boston College’s Andre Williams rushed for 2,177 yards, averaged 6.1 yards a carry and was a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2013, a trio of achievements that would seem to be worthy of a first-round selection. But for the second year in a row, no backs were taken in the first round. And when the Giants were on the clock to make their fourth-round choice, Williams was available. So the Giants added him to their stable of backs with the 113th overall pick.
With their first-round selection, the 12th pick overall, the Giants chose Odell Beckham, Jr., a fast and productive wide receiver and return specialist from LSU. Although he joins the Giants 10 years after Eli Manning, he already has a connection with his quarterback – they each grew up in New Orleans and attended Isidore Newman High School.
Five prime time games, including the first Monday night opener in 13 years, and an early November visit to Seattle to face the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks highlight the Giants’ 2014 regular-season schedule, released today.

Chris Snee believes the Giants should accessorize their usual offseason workout attire of T-shirts, shorts and sneakers.
“Name tags would be a nice addition,” Snee said.
Snee is preparing for his 10th season with the Giants, but found a very different team than the one he’s accustomed to when he reported today for the beginning of the offseason conditioning program. Longtime teammates like Justin Tuck, David Diehl, Kevin Boothe and Hakeem Nicks have moved on and the team signed 15 veteran free agents since mid-March. The program began with far more first-time introductions than in the past.
The Giants’ quarterbacks group officially became a foursome today when the team signed Josh Freeman, a former first-round draft choice who played last season for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Minnesota Vikings.
Freeman is the 15th veteran player who played elsewhere in 2013 to join the Giants since the start of free agency on March 11.
Giants quarterback Eli Manning will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his left ankle this afternoon.
The procedure, a debridement of the ankle, will be performed by foot and ankle specialist Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C.
Manning suffered a high left ankle sprain in the Giants’ 2013 season finale against Washington and had been rehabbing the injury since.
