EAGLES FINISH PRESEASON, START TO FORM 53-MAN ROSTER FOR 2017

Al Thompson

The Eagles-Jets matchup Thursday night was witnessed at a Metlife Stadium that was about 25 percent full.
The Birds lost 16-10 and finished the preseason 2-2.
The game was a dud but there were still reasons to pay attention that could impact the regular season roster. Here are five reasons.

LANE JOHNSON’S ‘WHUP SOME ASS’ COLUMN STARTS WAR OF WORDS WITH WASHINGTON REDSKINS

Al Thompson

If Eagles standout offensive tackle Lane Johnson wrote a bombastic column for the players blog website theplayerstribune.com to divert people away from talking about his 10-game suspension last year for violating the NFL’s policy on performance enhancing drugs, it backfired. If he wrote it to stir the pot and get Eagles fans and his teammates […]

SEVERAL EAGLES HAVE BREAKOUT NIGHTS IN PRESEASON WIN OVER MIAMI, 38-31

Al Thompson

The Eagles starting offense finally showed a little of what it is capable of doing, scoring 14 first quarter points, setting the tone for what turned out to be a 38-31 shootout win over the Miami Dolphins at Lincoln Financial Field. In a bit of a surprise move, head coach Doug Pederson pulled quarterback Carson […]

HART STARTING TO IMPRESS AS AN OFFENSIVE TACKLE

Al Thompson

It’s tough enough being a free agent trying to latch on with a NFL team. It is even tougher if you are switching your position. Taylor Hart, who was drafted as a defensive tackle by the Eagles in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Oregon, was running out of options to […]

EAGLES FANS SAY GOODBYE TO JORDAN MATTHEWS

Ashley Shafer

HELLO EAGLES FANS! FOOTBALL IS BACK! As this regular season quickly approaches many things are suddenly changing, some for the good, some for the bad but all these pieces are going to shape our 2017 Eagles. Every time we lose a player I feel like I lose a little piece of myself. When you’re a Philadelphia fan you look […]

AGELESS INCOGNITO STILL COMMANDS INTEREST WHEREVER HE GOES

Al Thompson

In most NFL cities, it is all about the home team. In Philadelphia, it’s Eagles in the morning, Eagles in the afternoon, and Eagles all night. There are a few players who draw interest regardless of what city they are in. One of those players is Buffalo Bills three-time Pro Bowl offensive guard Richie Incognito. […]

EAGLES STARTING OFFENSE HAS YET TO SHOW ITSELF THIS PRESEASON

Al Thompson

The Birds scored on the opening drive of their preseason opener against Green Bay and didn’t spike the ball for the rest of that game or the first 29 minutes, 13 seconds of the second preseason game against the Buffalo Bills at the Linc.
The Eagles scored on a one-yard run by Byron Marshall with 3:00 left in the fourth quarter to edge the Bills 20-16.

KYLE FRIEND WANTS TO BE ANOTHER NFL SURVIVOR

Al Thompson

Friend was deemed too short for major college football coming out of Mechanicsburg (PA) High School in 2011 where he was a two-time first team All-State lineman. But he was generously listed at 6-foot-2 and no D-1 schools came calling except Temple.
Friend proved the big schools wrong by becoming a four-year starter for the Owls and the face of head coach Matt Rhule’s program turnaround from doormat to national relevance.
Friend is hoping to find a home in Pittsburgh with the Steelers and prove all the teams that passed on him were wrong.

KELCE WILL BE AT THE CENTER OF EAGLES SUCCESS THIS YEAR

Brian Baldinger

In 1991, I was in my 10th year in the NFL and I was the starting at right guard on the Indianapolis Colts. We were coming off a disappointing 5-11 season with a rookie quarterback named Jeff George. Jeff was the No.1 overall pick that season and he showed a ton of promise. We […]
