NOTEBOOK: GIANTS EDGE 49ERS TAKE OVER FIRST PLACE IN NFC EAST

Michael Eisen

*Larry Donnell scored the game-winning touchdown on a 12-yard pass from Eli Manning with 21 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. It was the latest the Giants have scored a go-ahead, game-winning touchdown since Nov. 6, 2011, when Manning‘s one-yard touchdown pass to Jake Ballard with 15 seconds remaining enabled them to win at New England, 24-20.

EAGLES CRUSH SAINTS 39-17 AND STAY IN THE HUNT

Al Thompson

For the Eagles and the New Orleans Saints, Sunday’s game at the Linc was a de facto relegation game for the 1-3 teams.
Whichever team lost would be looking at a wasted season.
The Eagles stayed very much in the hunt with a convincing 39-17 win that had it not been for two early interceptions by the ever-improving Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford, the blowout could have been much worse.
The 2-3 Eagles next face the New York Giants (3-2) this Monday night with a chance to take over first place in the competitive NFC East. Big Blue beat the San Francisco 49ers 30-27 on a 12-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Larry Donnell with 26 seconds left in the game.

LANDOVER: Sunday’s NFC East showdown with the Washington Redskins wasn’t a must win game for the Eagles, it was a game the Birds needed to establish that what we all saw in the preseason wasn’t a mirage. After the Birds dropped a heartbreaking 23-20 decision you have to admit that maybe it was. Inconsistency was […]

The Eagles jumped out to a 24-0 lead in the first half against the New York Jets then held on for dear life, winning their first game of the season, 24-17 at MetLife Stadium.
The Birds (1-2) were finally able to get a running game going, producing 123 net yards on 39 total carries.

RAVENS DEALING WITH BEING THE FAVORITE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Nestor Aparicio

This is the time of the year when you read all those “season previews” and see what magazine or sportswriter or broadcaster is picking which team to be in San Francisco for Super Bowl 50.
Finally, in their 20th year of existence and after two Super Bowl victories, this is the first time the Baltimore Ravens are on that dance card as a “favorite.”

EAGLES OFFENSE HITS ROCK BOTTOM IN LOSS TO COWBOYS

Al Thompson

In one of the worst offensive performances in franchise history, the Birds dropped a 20-10 decision to NFC East rival Dallas Cowboys in a game that was not anywhere near as close as the score may look to anyone fortunate enough not to have watched the game.
The Eagles offense played at an anemic level of epic proportions.

MANNING, COUGHLIN SHARE BLAME IN LOSS TO COWBOYS

Michael Eisen

As difficult as it is, Tom Coughlin is going to accentuate the positives and set his sights forward instead of looking back.
The Giants can’t do anything to change the disheartening 27-26 loss they suffered last night in Dallas. But they can’t have a Cowboys hangover as they prepare for their home opener Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.
