CANTON, OHIO – The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Selection Committee met today in San Francisco to hold its annual selection meeting. Eight Heroes of the Game were elected to the Hall of Fame. The Class of 2016 consists of owner Edward DeBartolo, Jr., coach Tony Dungy, quarterback Brett Favre, linebacker/defensive end Kevin Greene, wide receiver Marvin Harrison, tackle Orlando Pace, quarterback Ken Stabler, and guard Dick Stanfel.

The Carolina Panthers appeared loose and confident as they paced through their final preparations on the eve of Super Bowl 50 with a walk-through practice at San Jose State and their first look inside Levi’s Stadium.
The Panthers’ team buses arrived at San Jose State at 11:35 a.m. on Saturday. The team’s defense and offense worked on separate fields against their scout teams. The defense finished its work at 12:10 p.m., while the offense walked off the field five minutes later.

Eagles tight end Zach Ertz believes he can help bring a Super Bowl to Philadelphia.
Ertz also thinks the Eagles can build on the chemistry they had with soon-to-be free agent Sam Bradford.
That didn’t keep Ertz from signing a five-year $42.5 million contract extension with the Eagles Monday.

Eagles new assistants include Defensive Coordinator Jim Schwartz as he enters his 22nd year in the NFL and his 10th as a defensive coordinator. He most recently served as the defensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills during the 2014 season. Schwartz directed a Bills defense that allowed the second-fewest points in the NFL (16.9 points per game), notched a league-high 54 sacks and held opponents to an NFL-best 33.2% third-down conversion rate. As head coach of the Detroit Lions from 2009-13, Schwartz helped lead Detroit to the playoffs in 2011, the team’s first playoff appearance since 1999.

As it turned out the game between the Eagles and Giants did have meaning on several levels.
A few other things worked out for the Eagles who racked up 435 yards of total offense. Obviously with Chip Kelly out of the picture and interim head coach Pat Shurmur allowed to run the offense the way he wanted to and did so with suggestions from his players.

Most fans and media were caught completely off guard when a press release was sent out on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 announcing that head coach Chip Kelly had been fired.
Given time to digest the owner’s decision. most players agreed communication was Kelly’s biggest problem.
The team has one more game on the schedule, Sunday January 3, 2016 (1 pm – FOX).
When the schedule was released last spring, many fans and observers thought it was decide the NFL East. Now it could decide who keeps their job.
