There were very few positives coming out of the Eagles performance Sunday in Green Bay…the Birds dropped a 53-20 verdict to the Packers making theor record 7-3 overall and tied for the lead in the NFC East with the Dallas Cowboys.
Here are some positives:
* WR Jordan Matthews led the team with 107 receiving yards on five catches … Matthews also scored his sixth touchdown reception of the season, tying for the fifth-highest total ever by an Eagles rookie and the most since Calvin Williams (9) and Fred Barnett (8) in 1990 … Over the last two weeks, Matthews has amassed 12 receptions for 155 yards and three touchdowns, becoming the third Eagles rookie ever to have back-to-back 100-yard games. Don Looney (1940) and DeSean Jackson (2008) are the only others to do so … In just 10 games this year, Matthews already ranks seventh among Eagles rookies all-time with 44 receptions and ninth with 558 yards.
* WR Jeremy Maclin led the team with nine catches and also racked up 93 yards and his ninth touchdown of the season … In doing so, he moved past Fred Barnett and Bobby Walston and into ninth on the Eagles all-time receptions list with 315 and into seventh on the all-time receiving touchdowns list with 35 … Maclin has reached the end zone in seven of 10 games this year and nine of his last 12 … Maclin has 30 receptions for 476 yards and five touchdowns over the last four weeks.
* QB Mark Sanchez threw for 346 yards and two touchdowns … It was the second-highest yardage output ever for Sanchez, his 10th-career 300-yard game and the first time he has ever had 300-plus yards in consecutive games … In his two starts this year, Sanchez has thrown for 678 yards, which is the highest two-game total of his career, and four touchdowns.
* K Cody Parkey has connected on his last 15 field goal attempts, tying for the fifth-longest streak in team history … DE Brandon Bair blocked an extra point, his second blocked kick of the year … LB Bryan Braman blocked a punt, the third blocked punt of the season for the Eagles … DE Vinny Curry picked up a sack and has six over the last seven games … The Eagles snapped a streak of 22 consecutive contests with at least one takeaway, which was the longest in the NFL and the team’s longest since 1995 … LB Trent Cole played in his 150th game.
