Whoever said “Its not a plan until we run out of time to change it.” Never knew the wisdom of their words. The York Capitals were set to play the Atlanta Sharks Saturday April 25th but the time for that had not expired and Atlanta couldn’t make the trip. Instead York set up a non-league game with the Lancaster Chargers.

Both teams had a gap in their schedule and both teams got what they needed, an opponent. On March 28 if this would have happened Isaac Carn the teams owner may have exploded. His demeanor tonight was that of a smooth operator. He seemed calm and excited to be the owner of a 5-0 team. Everyone likes to win and this game was no different.

Lancaster Chargers Coach Shane Houser said that they had some issues with the size of the end zone, his team wasn’t used to a lot of things on the field. Several times the team looked disheveled, and rushed to put enough players on the field. The only other issue Coach Houser had was the fights, there were countless fights between players.

The first play of the game was a Kickoff Return by York Capitals KR Amar Watson. He ran the length of the field for the first touchdown. Shortly after scoring an all out brawl ensued for 3 minutes after the score. Both sides were raring to make this soon to be rivalry unforgettable. The Capitals may just get their chance to see The Chargers again. Carn said the Chargers will hopefully be in the American Indoor Football League next year. They will most likely be looking to avenge such a blowout.

DB Amar Watson was a defensive standout.

E.J. Nemeth threw 4 of 6 in the first half with all of his touchdown passes going to WR Rob Wright. Nemeth threw three touchdown passes to Wright and actually thew more touchdowns than first downs in the first half. There was little doubt why Coach Marsilio pulled him at halftime. He was hogging all the fun. He threw for 3 touchdowns and only 4 completed passes! Alongside the offensive heat Amar Watson had scored a Kickoff Return and and a pick 6. Jimmy Pitts had a first half pick six as well. Marsilio admitted he sat his good players because at the half they were up 50-12. The Capitals had more work to do, and he wanted to see what some of his backups could do. Nemeth’s beard wasn’t even sweaty going into halftime.

In the second half the Chargers wouldn’t score another point. Backup QB Josh Finafrock would go to Wright again before turning to York, PA native Malik Generate for two more touchdowns. All said it didn’t really matter who was playing behind Center, the Capitals could not be stopped. They beat the Chargers soundly.

The Capitals will drive to Buffalo New York Saturday May 2, to take on the Buffalo Lightning. The Capitals are now 5-0 in their season. Coach Marsilio wanted to be here and their hard work as a unit has paid off. One thing that is uncommon though is that management, coaches and players alike all seem inwardly focused on development. From giving the Lancaster Chargers a chance a tougher opponent to pushing players to a bigger league for more exposure the Capitals are focused on building players, not a perfect season, although they seem pretty adequate at both.
