Giants named Dr. Scott Rodeo as the team’s lead physician.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.  The Giants announced today that Dr. Scott Rodeo has been appointed as the franchise’s new head team physician. Rodeo has been an associate team physician since 2000.
 
Dr. Russell F. Warren, who has been the Giants’ team physician since 1984, will remain with the organization as an active emeritus team physician.
 
“Russ Warren has been an integral part of our team for more than 31 years,” said John Mara, the Giants president and chief executive officer. “The care he has given to our players and staff over that period has been nothing short of extraordinary. We are delighted that he will continue to make his skills and expertise available to us this season and hopefully for years to come.”
 
“Dr. Warren is the best in the business,” quarterback Eli Manning said. “He’s been doing this a long time and he’s an important part of the Giants organization. He’s a guy I’ve seen a lot in my 11, going on 12, years about everything. He put 12 stitches in my head (after Manning was cut in a 2010 preseason game vs. the Jets), and I’ve seen him for numerous things over the years. I trust his opinion and his expertise. It’s good he’ll still be around, because I know he loves being part of the team and being there on game day.” 
 
Dr. Rodeo is a graduate of Stanford University and the Cornell University Medical College. He did his internship at The New York Hospital and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and fellowships in the Laboratory for Soft Tissue Research and the Department of Sports Medicine at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

Dr. Rodeo is currently Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon, Hospital for Special Surgery; Attending Surgeon (Orthopaedic Surgery), The New York-Presbyterian Hospital; Senior Scientist, Department of Research, Hospital for Special Surgery; Co-Chief Emeritus, Sports Medicine and Shoulder Service, Hospital for Special Surgery; and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery (Academic Track), Weill Medical College of Cornell University
 
He is also the Chairman of the United States Swimming Sports Medicine Committee. Dr. Rodeo was a team physician for the USA Olympic teams in 2004 (Athens), 2008 (Beijing) and 2012 (London) and has been the team physician for the U.S. National Swim Team at numerous international meets.
 
Dr. Rodeo is married to Christine Frissora, who is also a physician. The couple has two sets of twins, Sarah and Scott Jr., born in October 1995, and Mark and Caitlyn, born in April 2004.
 
Dr. Warren is the Surgeon-in-Chief Emeritus at The Hospital for Special Surgery, as well as an Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon for The New York Hospital. He is also the Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery for Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Previously, Dr. Warren was the president of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons.
 
“Dr. Warren is a legendary scientist and physician,” said Ronnie Barnes, the Giants’ senior vice president of medical services who has been with the team since 1976. “Russ is respected nationally and internationally and is known as the doctor to the doctors. He has dedicated his life to advancing the field of orthopedics and sports medicine. We have been extremely fortunate to have him as our team physician for three decades. We are also pleased that he will remain on our staff to continue to share his wisdom and experience. Because of Dr. Warren, high school, collegiate and professional athletes, as well as weekend warriors in all sports, have been able to return to play.”
 
A graduate of Columbia College in New York and the Upstate Medical School in Syracuse, N.Y., Dr. Warren completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at The Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City after a two-year tour of duty as a medical officer in the U.S. Navy. During his time in the Navy, Dr. Warren served in Vietnam.
    
Dr. Warren completed a fellowship in shoulder surgery with Dr. Charles Neer at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. He is the author of numerous publications in his specialties of knee and shoulder surgery, specifically pertaining to ligament injury (ACL & PCL), shoulder instability, cartilage loss and repair, arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and stabilization and shoulder replacement surgery.
