EAGLES NOTEBOOK: DESPITE LOSS, EAGLES STILL IN CONTROL OF NFC EAST

If you are looking for some silver linings after the Eagles 52-40 loss to the Denver Broncos, here are a few notes to try and put a smile on the faces of Eagles Nation.
• With Dallas losing to the San Diego Chargers Sunday, the Birds are only one game behind the Cowboys overall record in the NFC East. Dallas is 2-2, Eagles 1-3, Washington 1-3, Giants 0-4. The Birds are 1-0 in NFC East….smiling yet?
• The Eagles have amassed 793 rushing yards in 2013, the team’s highest output though their first four games … They compiled 166 rushing yards on 35 attempts (4.7 average) against a Broncos team that came into the game allowing a league-low 43 rushing yards per game and 2.3 yards per carry … RB Chris Polk scored a touchdown on his first-career carry, becoming the first Eagle to do so since Fred McCrary on 9/10/95 at Arizona … RB LeSean McCoy’s 468 rushing yards are the most ever by an Eagle through the first four games of the season.
• The Eagles became the first team in NFL history to accumulate at least 1,000 passing and 750 rushing yards through the first four games of the season… Their 1,835 total net yards in 2013 are the highest total in franchise history through the first 4 games of the season and the ninth-highest in NFL history … They also became the 8th team in NFL history to pile up at least 400 yards of total offense in each of their first four games (2013 Broncos, 2011 Patriots, 2007 Patriots, 2004 Vikings, 2002 Raiders, 1976 Cowboys, 1983 Chargers).
• WR Jeff Maehl recorded his first-career reception and his first-career touchdown … S Earl Wolff and TE Zach Ertz both made their first-career start … DE Cedric Thornton posted his second-career sack, becoming the eighth different Eagle with a quarterback takedown this season.
• QB Michael Vick moved past Sonny Jurgensen and into sixth in Eagles history with 9,849 passing yards … McCoy surpassed Ricky Watters for fifth on the team’s all-time list with 1,140 career touches … WR DeSean Jackson tied Calvin Williams for ninth in franchise annals with 295 career receptions. He also eclipsed Tommy McDonald for 12th with 5,549 career scrimmage yards … TE Brent Celek tied McDonald for 11th on the team’s all-time list with his 287th reception.
