Coach Stephen Thomas had successful tenures at The University of Delaware and Southern Mississippi before spending four years as Princeton University’s Linebacker Coach.

The Philadelphia Eagles have named Princeton’s inside linebackers coach Stephen Thomas as the team’s defensive quality control coach.
In addition, the Eagles named assistant special teams coach Matthew Harper as the team’s new assistant defensive backs coach and defensive quality control coach Michael Clay as the team’s new assistant special teams coach.
The 31-year-old Thomas spent the past three seasons at Princeton, where he helped linebacker Mike Zeuli earn the 2014 Bushnell Cup as the Ivy League’s defensive player of the year. Princeton earned the Ivy League title in 2013 as they ranked second in the league in total defense and rushing defense.
A native of Brooklyn, NY and a product of Brooklyn Technical High School, Thomas was a defensive back at the University of Buffalo and earned his degree in chemical and biological engineering in 2006. He began his coaching career at Cortland (2007-08) before moving on to the University of Delaware coaching the Blue Hens linebackers in 2009 and their secondary in 2010. The Blue Hens boasted the top-ranked scoring defense in the FCS in 2010 which helped fuel a berth in the national championship game. He spent the 2011 season at Southern Mississippi and helped the Golden Eagles to a conference title and a berth in the Hawaii Bowl.
