Philadelphia Eagles Acquire DT Timmy Jernigan from Baltimore Ravens

The Philadelphia Eagles have acquired DT Timmy Jernigan and a third-round draft pick (99th overall) from the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for the Eagles’ third-round selection (74th overall).

“We are excited to add Timmy Jernigan to our defensive front,” said Eagles Executive Vice President of Football Operations Howie Roseman. “It was hard to move down in the third round but we believe in building along the lines and he is a good fit for our scheme. At 24 years old, his best football is still ahead of him. We still have at least one pick in every round and eight total picks in the draft that will take place in Philadelphia in front of our fans in a few weeks.”

Originally selected by the Ravens in the second round (48th overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft, Jernigan has registered 90 tackles (44 solo), 13 sacks, three passes defensed, one interception and one fumble recovery in 43 career regular-season games (24 starts). The 24-year-old interior lineman has totaled four-plus sacks in each of his first three NFL seasons.

A native of Lake City, FL, Jernigan played collegiately at Florida State University, where he appeared in 40 career games (16 starts) and produced 139 tackles (73 solo), 25 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, one pass defensed and one fumble recovery. As a junior in 2013, Jernigan earned first-team All-America honors from ESPN.com and was voted second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference by the league’s coaches after helping lead the Seminoles to a 34-31 victory over Auburn in the 2014 BCS National Championship Game.
