The FootballStories College Football Player of the Week is Ryquell Armstead of Temple University. The senior running back from Millville, NJ ran for 108 yards and a touchdown as the Owls beat Tulsa 31-17. It’s the third game in a row that Armstead has gone over the 100-yard mark, he’s the first Owls running back since Bernard Pierce did it in 2011. In addition, he played some snaps as a defensive end because of injuries and recorded a sack. Armstead is just the third college football player to run for at least 100 yards and have a sack in the same game. The Owls (2-2) are on the road Saturday when they meet Boston College (3-1).

Other player who were under consideration for the players of the week were Quincy Roche, Armstead’s teammate, was the AAC Defensive Athlete of the Week. He had a pair of sacks and a pair of forced fumbles, one of which was returned for a touchdown in the Owls win over Tulsa. Villanova wide receiver Josh McGrigg, Penn running back Karekin Brooks, West Chester defensive end Ch’aim Smith, Widener quarterback Sean McGaughey and wide receiver James Gillespie and Princeton quarterback John Lovett.

In a 49-7 win over Bucknell, McGrigg had five catches for 187 yards including a 90-yard touchdown catch that is the longest touchdown reception in Villanova history. The Wildcats (3-1, 0-1 CAA) and ranked 13th are at No. 18 Stony Brook (3-1, 1-0 CAA) Saturday evening.

Brooks ran for three touchdowns and 163 yards in a 30-10 beating of Lehigh as the Quakers (2-0, 0-0 Ivy) had 500 yards of total offense. This week Penn is at Dartmouth (2-0, 0-0) in the Ivy League opener for both schools.

West Chester tied a school record with 10 sacks as they rolled over Millersville 42-16. Smith had a pair of them and knocked down two passes for the Golden Rams (4-0, 1-0 PSAC East). This Saturday, the 12th ranked Golden Rams host Shippensburg (2-2, 0-1 PSAC East).

Widener scored their first win of the season as they dominated Albright 69-0. McGaughey threw for 326 yards and five touchdowns while Gillespie had four catches for 140 yards and hauled in three of those touchdowns. The Pride (1-3, 1-1 MAC) is at Lebanon Valley (0-3, 0-1 MAC) Saturday afternoon.
Princeton took care of Monmouth 51-9 as Lovett threw for 332 yards and five touchdowns. The Tigers (2-0, 0-0 Ivy) open Ivy play at Columbia (2-0, 0-0 Ivy) on Friday night.

Delaware Valley beat up on Alvernia 41-10. On Saturday, the 20th ranked Aggies (3-1, 2-0 MAC) are on the road at Stevenson (3-1, 2-0 MAC) in a key game in the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Wesley rolled again, topping William Patterson 43-7. The Wolverines (3-0, 2-0 NJAC), who are ranked sixth in Division III, are at Southern Virginia on Saturday.

Rowan lost for the first time in 2018, falling at No. 6 Frostburg State 34-7. On Saturday night, Christopher Newport (2-1, 1-1 NJAC) comes to Glassboro to face the Profs (3-1, 2-1 NJAC).

Ursinus remained undefeated with a 21-14 victory over Moravian. The Bears (4-0, 3-0 Centennial) visit perennial Centennial Conference-power Johns Hopkins (3-1, 2-1 Centennial) on Saturday.

Delaware stepped out of conference to take on the number one team in the country North Dakota State and were handed a 38-10 loss for their troubles. The Blue Hens (2-2, 0-1 CAA) have the week off before they resume conference play at Richmond on October 6th.

Delaware State (0-3, 0-0 MEAC) enjoyed a week off. Saturday afternoon they open conference play at Norfolk State (2-1, 1-0 MEAC).

Lincoln University lost to Livingstone College 30-0 in their CIAA opener. Next, the Lions (0-4, 0-1 CIAA) host Johnson C. Smith (0-3, 0-1 CIAA).

TCNJ (0-4, 0-3 NJAC) were beaten by Salisbury University 38-7. They take the week off and play again on October 6th at Montclair State.
