Collin Wallace pulls in a pass earlier in the season vs. The Saginaw Sting.

York (June 6, 2015) – The York Capitals look to keep the winning streak alive this week. The Capitals (9-0) will host the Chicago Blitz in the AIFL Championship at the York Ice Arena on Saturday, June 6 at 7 p.m.

The Capitals and Blitz have not met this season. This past week the Capitals triumphed over the ASI Panthers, with a final score 68-58. QB E.J. Nemeth led the Capitals throwing for 7 touchdowns, scoring almost all the PATs, and throwing for over 250 yards. Although it came at a cost for Nemeth having completed only half of his attempts and being intercepted 3 times. WR Malik Generate and WR Ray Lewis grabbed the majority of catches, although WR Colin Wallace of Westminster College made some real grabs when it counted. The defense behind the leadership of Issa Diarra, Mike Woodhouse, and Eric Ducksworth made some major stops when it counted too.

The number one thing to look for this Saturday is Defensive Stands. The Panthers seemed to have had the Capitals figured out in a few situations although lack of discipline left them with penalties for a Capitals first down after their hard work. The real work was in the trenches of this game. Several players went unnoticed, as Nemeth pushed himself into the end zone for several QB Keepers. Both sides of linemen carried their share of the load for the victory against the Panthers.

One player of note was #9 Colin Wallace. He didn’t have a lot of catches for major yards but he did make 5 grabs for the night. He also made them when they counted pulling the Capitals just far enough for the next round of downs. Wallace had a tough start with a few drops. Capitals Head Coach Rick Marsilio said he pulled Colin aside during halftime and told him “to get it together and to keep from getting frustrated,” the issues. The talk worked Wallace, pulled in several catches for nine yards and then scored a touchdown to tie it up. His efforts were met later with a victory by the Capitals.

The game was topped off when with one minute left the Capitals Kicked the ball into the roof and broke the sprinkler system. The field was deemed unworthy for play. This was most likely the first time an Indoor Football Game was rained out. Officials gave the ASI Panthers an extra 7 points and called the game over. The Capitals worked all week to get home field advantage as Chicago argued their field was unfit for play. The field is set and fans can see the game Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Capitals have had an excellent season and their fans, owners and especially the city of York should be proud of their effort.
