Since we are in an election year, let’s use some election terms in this notebook about Sunday’s open practice at Lincoln Financial Field.

Quarterback: Sam Bradford looked “presidential” as the Eagles starting quarterback. Canton will not be calling for the tape of this practice, but all QBs looked solid. Both had their ups and downs.
Best of the day may be the bomb Bradford hit Jordan Matthews with for a touchdown. Matthews got behind two defenders and Bradford put it right in his hands.

The “presumptive” starting quarterback did some bonding after practice signing scores a autographs along the railing leading to the tunnel towards the Birds locker room.
Carson Wentz got off to a shaky start, but looked much more confident as the practice wore on.

Wentz threw a football around at Lincoln Financial Field as an Eagle for the first time Sunday. The stadium is just a tad bigger that the one he played in at North Dakota State.

“I can’t imagine this place packed,” Wentz said after practice. “It’s pretty cool to see the jerseys here. Seeing them in Eagles colors here and the little kids, that’s what it’s all about.”

Receivers/Tight ends: Jordan had a spike in his polling as the No. 1 receiver. He looked confident and did not have any noticeable mistakes.

Former Giants receiver Rueben Randle continues to impress as a No. 2 or No. 3 receiver. Josh Huff had a solid day making some tough catches in traffic.

Brent Celek ran mostly with the twos and excelled catching passes from Chase Daniel.

Running back: With Ryan Mathews still out it was mostly Wendell Smallwood and Darren Sproles. Sproles had some nice runs and looked strong.
Smallwood is still learning the system but judging by the number of reps he got, the coaching staff wants to see him get all the opportunities he needs.

Offensive line: Hard to gauge, even with pads on like today. All looked solid including Stefen Wisniewski, who was filling in for injured Brandon Brooks at right guard.
One lineman who is anxious to get the season started is Pro Bowl tackle Jason Peters. The 6-foot-4, 328 pounder was very expressive after practice back in the Birds locker room.
“I’m frustrated,” the 34-year-old said. “I’m getting older, I want a ring. I want to bring a championship to Philly.”
Left guard Allen Barbre, center Jason Kelce and right tackle Lane Johnson pretty much went about their business and kept Bradford clean all afternoon.
Three-time Alabama All Americana and three-time National Champion offensive lineman Barrett Jones played guard with the twos on Sunday. Jones has struggled to get on an NFL field for the three previous seasons since being drafted in the fourth round of the 2013 draft (113th pick overall). The Eagles are the fourth NFL roster he has been on.

Defensive line: Brandon Graham continues to have a good camp and is rising in the polls. Newly anointed NFL superstar Fletcher Cox did not stick out today and neither did the rest of the line.

Linebackers: Jordan Hicks, coming back from a season-ending pectoral muscle injury was impressive with the way he was in command on the field.

Secondary: Newcomers Leodis McKelvin and rookie Jalen Mills have brought a badly needed attitude and swagger to the secondary. Mills and wide receiver Chris Givens nearly went at it after Givens beat the rookie on a deep route for a touchdown. There had been incidents between the two all spring.
After the catch, Givens flipped the ball at Mills, who then picked it up and fired it at Givens. Nothing really happened but it showed emotion the Eagles as a team need.

Kickers: Too soon to tell if who has the lead between incumbent Cody Parkey and the outsider Caleb Sturgis.

Coaches: Doug Pederson looked “presidential” as the Eagles new head coach. He looked in control especially with the offense and Duce Staley looks as confident as he ever has at running backs coach.
