PHILADELPHIA (January 26, 2015) – The Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League welcome free agent wide receiver, Shaun “SK” Kauleinamoku (5’9, 185, Western Oregon) to the 2015 roster. Kauleinamoku (pronounced COW-lay-nah-MOE-coo) is coming off a career year being named to the AFL’s Top 50 Players of 2014. He finished the 2014 season tied for No. 5 in the League in catches and ranked No. 10 in the AFL in receiving yards.
Kauleinamoku joins former Pittsburgh Power teammates – defensive back Brandon Freeman, wide receiver Tyrone Goard, defensive lineman Justin Lawrence and offensive lineman Keith Newell – on the Soul’s roster for the 2015 season. An inevitable exodus of players from Pittsburgh occurred after November rumors were confirmed of the Power being undecided on operations for 2015.
“SK is a dynamic player that gives us an added dimension on offense,” Soul head coach Clint Dolezel said. “His versatility, ability to stretch a defense and toughness will definitely be a welcomed addition to our group of receivers.”
The native of Hawaii played the entire 2014 season with the Pittsburgh Power finishing with 124 receptions for 1,349 yards. He set a personal high with 19 touchdowns in 18 games. In 2012, he spent time playing for both the Utah Blaze and San Antonio Talons. He posted 73 receptions for 875 yards and 16 touchdowns with the Blaze. He began his AFL career in 2010 with the Spokane Shock and left after two seasons where he recorded 82 catches for 1,037 yards and 25 touchdowns. As a junior, Kauleinamoku was an All-GNAC Second Team honoree after catching 37 passes for 573 yards and eight touchdowns for the Wolves.
