Villanova University sophomore quarterback John Robertson has been added to the Walter Payton Award Watch List. The Payton Award is given to the top player in FCS football. With the addition of Robertson, the list has now grown to 21 players.

Robertson is in the midst of a sensational season for the Wildcats. After eight games, he has completed 122-of-171 (71.3%) for 1,307 yards to go with eight touchdowns and four interceptions. He has also rushed for 1,063 yards on 157 carries (6.8 avg.) and 15 touchdowns.

In the latest NCAA statistics, Robertson leads all FCS quarterbacks in touchdowns, ranks second in the country in completion percentage and sixth in the nation in rushing.

Over the last three weeks, Robertson has been virtually unstoppable. In the three games combined against No. 3 Towson, No. 25 New Hampshire and No. 11 Maine, he has gone 45-of-57 (78.9%) passing for 425 yards and three touchdowns and he has rushed 81 times for 620 yards (7.6 yards per carry) and 10 scores. All total, he has amassed 1,045 yards of total offense in the three contests. In his last two outings against New Hampshire and Maine, Robertson became the first player in school history to register back-to-back 200-yard rushing games (256 vs. UNH; 214 vs. Maine).

As a redshirt freshman last season, Robertson earned the Jerry Rice Award which is given to the top freshman in FCS football. His 2012 statistics included running for 1,021 yards and 14 scores and throwing for 1,965 yards and 14 scores.
