WATKINS RELEASED AS BIRDS MAKE FINAL CUTS

Former first round pick Danny Watkins, an offensive guard out of Baylor did not survive the final cut made by new head coach Chip Kelly.
Watkins has been a disappointment from the day former head coach Andy Reid picked him in the first round (23rd overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.
The Canadian-born player was drafted fourth overall by the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League in the 2010 CFL Draft, but played out his last year at Baylor University, the 2010 season.
It is unclear if Watkins will continue his career since he will turn 29 in November. the 6-foot-3, 310 pounder did start playing football until he was 22 years old.
The Philadelphia Eagles today announced they have released the following nine players:
